Pretty cool. What these scientists think up is so crazy it's unbelievable. Some of the stuff is so far out there I have to assume it's bs. This here is obviously a fundamental mathematical phenomenon but some of the crap like string/m theory... 13 dimensions, come on...

...Thanksgiving, 2007...

...just got done watching the huskers get blasted by Colorado, another depressing Saturday, oh well, at least we don't have to "worry" about football over the Holidays and the cold winter months. Oh, for the good'ol'days that we could. But, LSU and Texas both got beat, so there are lots of folks in the same boat.

...Yesterday, Thanksgiving was a real nice day. Very cold, snowed the previous day and night, only had a few inches, but enough that we could get Mira out on the hill in the back with a sled and get her indoctrinated to slick gravity. Mason, Mira and I did that while the turkey was cooking. I used the roaster oven again, and it turned out pretty well, I think. Grandma Ruth went all out and really had lots and lots of other dishes, green bean caserole, stuffing, your whipped sweet potato caserole, a homemade cranberry relish, mashed potatoes and gravy. Again, I ate way to much, but it was fun....then she brought out the deserts and I couldn't say no to those. Jerry was in, we all had a real good time. Mira had a challenge to stay away from all of Grandma's trinkets that she has within reach level, but Mason stayed on top of her to try to prevent too many disruptions. Again, good time. Wish you were here to enjoy, but hopefully we will all get together for Christmas.

Hey guys, I hope you all enjoy your turkey day!

I was planning on getting my friends together for a nice meal but I didn't realize that thanksgiving was today so I missed it. How shitty! I worked for like 11 hours today and was totally tired. What the hell ever happened to the rule that it's the last thursday of november?! That's alright, I can always get my friends together another time but it's a bit of a bummer.

Anyways, you guys enjoy the day and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

...Remember, Nebraska takes on Colorado at 1100 our time, 1000 Colorado time, on Friday morning. Evidently, both coaches are getting their teams up to practice by 5AM or so this past two weeks. Winner has a winning season, will likely go to a bowl game, the loser has a losing season and stays home. You might want to check the slingbox to make sure it is working prior to Friday morning.

Now begins the weekend of party time. Huge party tonight, DJ Scratch spinning on the tables. Private party in cologne tomorrow. then Carnivale begins 11:11 Sunday morning. We jump on the train at 3 or 4 sunday afternoon and then I have to be at work at 8 monday. Should be a memorable weekend.

Also, the biggest engines develop over 100,000 horsepower. And think about how much the valves and pistons and everything weigh and imagine them moving at thousands of rpm, it's so insane!!!!

Work

I've been working quite a bit for berlitz lately. 12 hours yesterday, it kind of sucked but I made a couple hundred bucks so that's okay. I didn't know what to expect but I really like teaching. It's kind of like performing and I'm in my comfort zone now so I can walk in with some swagger and have fun and rock the joint. :)

Here's some pics from a company that I go to to teach. They manufacture and refurbish diesel engines for ships. The SMALLEST engine they work on weigh 150 tons and the biggest is over 2000 tons. That's 4,000,000 pounds can you imagine this?! The bore (diameter) of the pistons is nearly 2 meters and the stroke is over 20 feet. Insane.


1)Here's a valve. They're about 6 inches tall and about 5 centimeters across in a car engine.


2)Here's a connecting rod, normally about 10 inches or less.


3)Here's a small engine.


4)Here's a crankshaft. I don't know if this is from a big or small engine but these things are friggin unbelievable. Imagine how big the engine is if the crankshaft is this huge, it's insane. When the cranes move the engines it shakes the ground like an earthquake. I just get so geeked out over this stuff!

I'll be going down to Cologne again this weekend with friends to go to the party of the friend I stayed with last time I was there. Then on Sunday is the first day of carnivale which I've heard should be insane. I spoke with my guy from the clothes company we'll probably get together either at my friend's party or during carnivale and hang out and discuss more details of the job and payment etc... I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks for the posts, good stuff. I wish I could have been there with you guys. They don't really celebrate halloween too much over here but it's catching on a bit. A friend of mine said he got a few trick or treaters and I saw some decorations and costume stuff at the drugstore. Not the same though. I'm thinking of getting all my friends together for thanksgiving and having some good food. Green bean caserole, sweet potato caserole, pumpkin pie... all the essentials. I'll be back in december for a few weeks through the new year and really looking forward to seeing everyone and doing a proper christmas!
