...yesterday morning, early, Matt got on the train to New York. He is still on the train as I enter this, after spending 11 hours in coach, then 7 hours layover in Chicago, then another 20+ hours in a sleeper car, hopefully, for the last leg to New York. He'll be arriving late Monday evening, then will begin looking for apartments. He is bringing with him six big boxes of clothes and other necessities, and his bike, but they will remain at the station until he locates his residence. For him to go through 28 years of materials and boxes of memorabilia, and reduce that to 6 boxes, was understandably an arduous procedure. There are things that I will continue to save for him, not all memories can be put aside that readily. We will store his car, hopefully in tact for him if/when he should decide to return to Nebraska. Regardless, the house seems much more empty now, knowing that Matt won't be popping over to watch the F1 races, or to watch a movie, or just hang out. Regardless, I know I miss him already. But, I know that this is what he wants to do at this time in his life, and I support him fully. I'm hopeful that he can make good on his promise to get back for some time during the Holidays.
...anyway, here is the only picture I got of him prior to his departure. He was going through his boxes of memorabilia in his room when I caught him.
...good luck, Matt.
